Sonoma Wire Works has updated their iOS app of guitar tone goodness—cleverly named GuitarTone—to version 3. There are all-new tube models to choose from in their amp offerings that take advantage of improvements available in tone through iOS 10 devices. To celebrate the update, they’re also giving away some free amp and effect add-ons to early adopters. You may also win $300 worth of Sonoma Wire Works goodies. It’s a good day to be a Sonoma Wire Works and GuitarTone 3 fan/user.
I discover so many cool things on Twitter. SetBoss appears to be another one of those cool things. I saw SetBoss tweeting asking for people who were interested in guitars, iOS and blogging to take a look at their app. I fit all three of those criteria, so I decided to take a look. I’m glad I did. SetBoss is a nifty little app!
Back in 2011 when I decided to shift the focus of my website to my guitar fascination (prior to 2011 I used this site for my graphic design fascination), I had a small obsession with the wonders of iOS. Today I still do. I’m not currently writing about it as much, but I realised today that last year—2014—I continued to use iOS for my social media usage and monitoring, content discovery, video editing, guitar recording, photography and a whole lot more. So as I look back on the year that was, I thought I’d use iOS to put together a homage to my version of 2014.
It’s a 15 second video. It’s going to take me longer than that to explain how it was created though.
I’ve written about GuitarCapo+ before and it sure has advanced since then. Now it’s not only an amazing virtual instrument, but it’s a priceless educational tool for guitarists both young and old. I’m also pleased to say that the developer of this app is welcoming of constructive criticism. As a fan of the app it’s encouraging to see your suggestions are listened to and implemented (if sensible).
I have some crazy ideas from time to time.
Some people believe guitars were perfected decades ago. There are also some people who believe that guitars are capable of so much more. Then there are those people who come up with ideas that allow the two worlds to co-exist in a peaceful fashion. In my opinion ToneWoodAmp is one of those awesome pieces of innovation. The ToneWoodAmp device allows you to apply effects and complex soundscapes to an acoustic guitar without the need for a pedalboard or amplifier. All without seriously altering your acoustic guitar. In my opinion the ToneWoodAmp is pure genius.
